• Store items you may want quick access to near the door.
• Disassemble tables to save space.
• Store sofas (couches) upright.
• Load heavy items first and on the bottom of the locker. Store mirrors and fragile pieces last and on top.
• Place mattresses upright to maintain their shape and structural integrity.
• Bring tools for disassembling your stored items. Keep tools (if stored) near the door, identifiable, visible, and accessible.
• Check with your insurer about extending existing policies to include items in storage. Full insurance is also available from Panneton & Panneton for items stored in our facility.
• Pack fragile articles in solid boxes, and well padded. Mark these boxes “Fragile”, and place them on top of all other items, and clearly visible.
• Make a list of what you have stored, and keep that list in a safe place. In the event of an insurance claim, you will settle more rapidly with a list.
• Do not store flammables, perishables, live animals, food, or jewels.
• Motors must be "dry" (drained of all fuel, motor oil, and all other fluids). This applies to mowers, snow blowers, and anything else with an engine. Storage of combustible fluids (gas, paint, solvents, etc). is strictly prohibited.
• Do not place your stored items (especially boxes and mattresses) directly on the concrete floor. The floor should be covered with wooden planks or a straw mattress.
• Store a refrigerator with its doors half-opened to prevent mould, mildew, and odor.
